PHS Student Shares Boys State Experience with American Legion

Perry High School student Gunnar Farrar recently had the opportunity to represent his school and community at Oklahoma Boys State, a prestigious week-long leadership and citizenship program held at Rogers State University in Claremore. Sponsored by the American Legion, the program brings together outstanding high school students from across the state to develop leadership skills while gaining a hands-on understanding of government and civic responsibility.

This week, Farrar had the opportunity to reflect on his experience as the guest speaker at the local American Legion meeting. During his presentation, he shared what he learned throughout the week, highlighting the leadership opportunities, friendships, and valuable lessons that made the experience both educational and memorable.

The meeting also gave Farrar the chance to personally thank the members of the Perry American Legion for sponsoring his attendance at Boys State. Their support made it possible for him to participate in a program that encourages young leaders to become active, informed, and engaged citizens.

"Perry Public Schools is grateful to the American Legion for investing in the leadership development of our students," said Superintendent Chad Wilson. "Opportunities like Boys State help prepare students for future success while encouraging a lifelong commitment to service and civic engagement."

Perry Public Schools congratulates Gunnar on representing the district with excellence and extends its sincere appreciation to the Perry American Legion for its continued support of Perry students.
