PPS Aerospace & Aviation Program Receives $6,500 Grant from Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics

The grant will fund the purchase of curriculum supplies for the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) “You Can Fly” program, as well as a larger outdoor drone to enhance students’ practical learning experiences. These resources will strengthen the district’s aerospace education initiatives and provide students with access to industry-relevant tools.

The Perry High School Aerospace and Aviation Program has expanded in the 2025-2026 school year to include a new class of freshmen. With this growth, instructor Ron Dwyer now leads two sections of aerospace. Both classes will benefit from the grant award and the educational materials it will provide.

“The Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics has been a vital partner in advancing aerospace education across the state,” said Amanda Wilson, District STEM Coordinator. “This grant will help ensure that Perry students continue to have access to high-quality STEM opportunities that prepare them for future careers in aerospace and related fields.”

The Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics administers grant programs to promote aerospace education and workforce development in schools across the state. Perry Public Schools is honored to be selected as a recipient and looks forward to expanding the impact of its aerospace program through this funding.
