PHS AEROSPACE PROGRAM CONTINUES TO SOAR

PHS Aviation Program Continues to Soar

Perry High School Aerospace and Aviation instructor, Mr. Ron Dwyer, recently attended a week long professional development seminar at Rose State College. It was hosted by the Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics. While there, Mr. Dwyer was trained to teach the second year of the AOPA You Can Fly curriculum. Mr. Dwyer attended a banquet, hosted by ODAA, where he was joined by Perry Schools Superintendent Chad Wilson. Drawings were held at the end of the banquet, and Mr. Dwyer won a drone combo.

Additionally, PHS received a $14,000 grant from ODAA for Aerospace classroom improvements. This will be used to purchase furniture for the Aerospace and Aviation classroom at PHS, including a table for the wind tunnel and work tables for student projects. There are also plans to install a door adjoining the Aerospace classroom with the lab next door for maximized work space. This is the third grant PHS has received from ODAA to further advance the program and opportunities for Perry students.
