Second Semester Recap Letter

 

Dear Maroons,

That’s a wrap on the 2024-2025 school year! It was a great year and I wanted to share a few highlights from our spring semester:

 

ACADEMICS:

  • We ended the school year with a total enrollment of 1,073 students.
  • Lower Elementary: The average U.S. elementary student experiences 6% growth in reading and math during the school year. Perry students excelled with tremendous growth numbers from August to May in each grade level–
    • Pre-K: Reading 14% & Math 16% growth
    • Kindergarten: Reading 27% & Math 25% growth
    • 1st: Reading 24% & Math 40% growth
    • 2nd: Reading 33% & Math 42% growth
  • Upper Elementary: 
    • 3rd: ELA 82% & Math 49% growth 
    • 4th: ELA 48% & Math 38% growth 
    • 5th: ELA 45% & Math 49% growth
    • 6th: ELA 50% & Math 44% growth
  • Junior High:
    • 7th: English 37% & Math 28% growth
    • 8th: English 30% & Math 75% growth
  • High School Academic Highlights: 
    • Cheer Team and Girls Wrestling Team were Academic State Champions
    • 53 students took concurrent classes, earning a total of 432 college credit hours

 

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT:

  • Job well done to our students who participated in the 6th grade Science Fair, 5th grade Penny Arcade, Band concerts, musicals, and other spring events. 
  • Congrats to FFA State award winners: 2 State FFA Degree recipients, 3rd place state proficiency finalist; Top 5 Animal Science quiz bowl team, Top 10 state reporter & secretary contest, 3-star Bronze Level Chapter, Top 5 Ag Mechanics at OYE, State Runner-up Oklahoma Junior Wheat Show, & Mr. Milligan was elected as a board member for the OK Ag Ed Teacher Association. 
  • The PHS Class of 2025 will graduate 75 seniors tomorrow and were awarded $144,000 total in local scholarships.

 

ATHLETICS:

The 2024-2025 sports teams and band represented Perry well this year!

  • Football Winning Season & 1 All-State Athlete
  • Softball State Semi-Finalist Team & 3 All-State Athletes
  • Wrestling State Qualifiers & 1 All-State Athlete
  • Basketball Winning Season & 1 All-State Athlete
  • Track & Field State Qualifiers 
  • Boys Golf State Qualifier  
  • Baseball Winning Season (All-State selections TBA)
  • Band OSSAA Sweepstakes Winner & 2 All-State Members 

 

STAFF ACHIEVEMENT:

  • Congrats to PPS District Teacher of the Year - Mandi Justus (Pre-K)
  • Perry Education Foundation awarded over $13,000 in grants to PPS teachers this spring
  • Thank you & best wishes to retiring educators/staff - Kynda Sheets & Debbie Rodriguez

 

FACILITIES:

  • We recently started renovations on the field house at Daniels Field, where the football/track locker rooms and boys wrestling room are located. This approx $600,000 upgrade will be funded by remaining bond funds. Demo work is complete and improvements will include new flooring, new lockers, new ceiling, paint, updating showers/bathrooms/plumbing, HVAC ductwork modifications, new LED lighting, etc. We’ll host an open house for the community to tour it this fall.
  • We plan to have a grand opening for the walking trail and outdoor classrooms - TBA. 


Now, summer break has officially arrived and we wish you a safe, healthy and restful summer!

To reach us over the summer, please note PPS office hours at all school sites this summer are Monday-Thursday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
