Baseball to host Meet a Maroon Night and 100-Inning Game Fundraiser

Opening day is quickly approaching for the Maroons and they’ve planned some preseason fun. On Thursday, February 29, the Perry High School and Junior High School baseball teams will host a 100-inning game fundraising event and the community is invited to attend. The evening will also include a designated time for "Meet a Maroon” to introduce the teams.

The 100-inning game will begin at 4 p.m. with high school at Ripley Field. They will pause at 5:30 p.m. for "Meet a Maroon,” as all players and coaches will be introduced. Then the junior high team will play on Ripley Field after Meet a Maroon.

All baseball players are currently seeking sponsors to make a monetary pledge for the 100-inning game. For example, supporters can pledge $1 x 100 innings, which would be a $100 total donation, or pledge $0.10 cents x 100 innings to donate a total of $10.

Funds raised during this event will go toward uniforms, equipment and travel expenses for both the PJH and PHS teams, including the high school team’s trip to Pensacola, Florida for a tournament during spring break. The PHS team is also accepting donations of snacks for their bus trip to Florida, such as chips, granola bars, beef jerky, sunflower seeds, and other snack foods. Snack donations can be dropped off at the event on February 29.

The concession stand will also be open during the 100-inning game for fans to purchase a grilled burger, hot dog, or other concession items throughout the evening.

The baseball program will have a first pitch sponsor at each home game this season. If any local businesses or organizations are interested in being a first pitch sponsor, there are still a handful of sponsorship opportunities available for junior high games.

Monetary donations of any size are welcome. Please make checks payable to “Perry High School Baseball.” Any JH/HS baseball player will accept donations, or reach out to PHS head coach, Bret Bouher, or PJH head coach, Kirk Kinzie.

Upcoming, the first high school game of the season is March 1. Both the junior high and high school teams will open the home schedule with a triple header on Saturday, March 2 against Newkirk at Ripley Field in Perry. Varsity is set to play at noon, junior varsity at 2 p.m. and junior high at 3:30 p.m.

Make plans to spend some time at the ballpark this spring to support your Maroons!
