The Perry High School Band has enjoyed a successful competition season, earning recognition at four contests while bringing its 2026 marching show, “Pure Imagination,” to audiences across the region.
This year’s show invited viewers to see the world through the wonder of childhood imagination and dreams, capturing a time when possibilities seemed endless and anything could happen.
The band began its competition season October 3 at the Glenpool Tournament of Bands, earning third place in its class and sixth place in Finals. On October 6, the group participated in the Tri State Music Festival, where it received an Excellent rating.
At the October 10 Oklahoma Bandmasters Association (OBA) 1A–3A Championships, Perry placed fourth in Class 2A and finished 11th in Finals among all 32 participating groups.
The band concluded its competition schedule October 21 at the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association (OSSAA) contest, earning a Superior (I) rating from all three judges. This achievement makes the band eligible for the prestigious Sweepstakes Award in the spring. The high school color guard also competed in the Ensemble Contest, earning a Superior (I) rating.
Band Director Andrew Houghton expressed appreciation for the many people who helped make the season possible.
“We'd like to thank everyone who helped build props, provide water and food, pull our equipment and of course came and cheered for the groups at the contest. Your support means the world to us all!” Houghton said.
The band will continue its tradition of sharing music and school spirit with its annual Light Show following the football game on Senior Night, November 5. The performance will provide another opportunity for the Perry community to celebrate the hard work and dedication of the band and color guard.
