Reading and nature are coming together once again this September along the walking trail behind the junior high. A fresh Story Walk featuring "Wild Kratts: Wild Fliers!" is officially open to the public, offering local families a unique way to enjoy a great book while staying active outdoors.
This month’s installation features an extra dose of learning, courtesy of the secondary Foundational Learning Program (FLP) class. Students spent time researching fascinating animal facts that align with the book’s aviation theme, posting their findings alongside the story pages for visitors to discover as they stroll.
In addition to their research, the FLP class has dedicated September’s StoryWalk to country music icon and philanthropist Dolly Parton. Parton, affectionately known by millions as the "Book Lady," founded the Imagination Library in 1995. Her program has gifted over 200 million free books to young children worldwide, inspiring a global love for reading that the FLP class hopes to honor locally.
Community members of all ages are encouraged to visit the trail throughout September to enjoy the story, test their knowledge with the students' fun facts, and celebrate the joyful legacy of reading. As a reminder, the walking trail is open outside of school hours.
