Welcome Back!

Welcome Back, Maroons!

I hope everyone enjoyed a restful and rewarding summer break. Our faculty and staff at Perry Public Schools have been hard at work getting ready for the first day of school.

Over the summer, we completed several facility projects to maintain and improve our buildings, including deep cleaning, painting, and repairs. We also installed new roofs at the Junior High building and several buildings on the High School campus, funded through an insurance claim following a previous hail storm.

We're pleased to welcome 11 new staff members who joined our team over the summer to fill vacancies. Current enrollment stands at 1,024 students, and we anticipate that number will continue to grow over the coming days.

This year, our elementary students will benefit from a new state requirement providing 40 minutes of daily recess. We're excited about the positive impact this additional time for physical activity and play will have on our students' well-being and readiness to learn.

Each site will host families for Back-to-School Night on Tuesday, August 11, from 5:00–6:30 p.m. This is a great opportunity to visit your child's classroom, meet their teacher, pick up their class schedule, turn in shot records, drop off medications, and more.

We're excited to welcome students back for the first day of school on Thursday, August 13. Doors open at 7:45 a.m., with the first bell at 8:10 a.m. Visit the school website or mobile app for lunch menus, car line drop-off/pickup maps, bus rider rules, and other helpful information as you prepare for the school year.

I also want to remind everyone how important school zone and bus route safety is. With increased traffic during morning drop-off and afternoon pickup, we all need to work together to keep our students safe.

Finally, I encourage every family to submit a Free & Reduced application for school meals. Participating benefits our school and community, even if your family doesn't qualify.

If you're new to Perry Schools, welcome! Our teachers, administrators, and staff are here to support you and your child, so please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.

Here's to a happy and successful 2026–2027 school year!

Chad Wilson
