The future of Perry Maroons basketball was on full display this summer as young athletes participated in two successful Perry Maroons Youth Basketball Camps at the Maroon Athletic Center. The camps included one session for elementary boys and one for junior high boys, providing players of all ages the opportunity to improve their skills and connect with the Perry basketball program.
Led by new Perry Maroons Head Coach Kolten Childers, the camps focused on developing fundamentals, teamwork, and confidence on the court. Coach Childers was joined by members of the Perry High School Maroons basketball team, who assisted with drills, instruction, and mentoring younger athletes throughout the camps.
The camps gave participants a chance to work closely with the Maroons coaching staff while also building relationships with the program’s new leadership. For many campers, it was their first opportunity to meet Coach Childers and begin establishing a connection with the vision for Perry basketball moving forward.
“These camps are about more than just basketball,” said Coach Childers. “They’re about building relationships, creating excitement for the program, and helping young players grow in their skills and love for the game. I’m thankful for the energy these kids brought each day and for our high school players who stepped up to invest in the next generation.”
Perry Public Schools values opportunities like these that strengthen connections between younger athletes and the high school program. By bringing players together at all levels, the district continues to build a strong foundation for the future of Maroon basketball.
