Perry Public Schools to Host Summer Professional Development Opportunity for Area Educators

Perry Public Schools will host a two-day Summer Professional Development opportunity on June 15-16 at Perry Junior High, providing educators from Perry and surrounding school districts with engaging learning experiences designed to inspire fresh ideas for the upcoming school year.

The event is free to attend and offers two professional development pathways, allowing participants to choose learning opportunities that best fit their interests and professional goals. Perry teachers who attend will receive a $50 stipend for each day of participation, thanks to the Perry Education Foundation.

One pathway will feature a K-8 STEM Training provided by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT). Open to all teachers - not just those in STEM or science-related fields - the training will include hands-on activities and practical strategies for integrating STEM concepts across subject areas. Participants will also receive a complete classroom kit of supplies to implement the lessons learned during the training.

The second pathway will offer a variety of sessions focused on classroom innovation and instructional strategies. Topics include elementary and middle school mathematics, stand-alone STEM activities, a Canva beginner course, an AI Playground for Teachers session, and instruction on integrating art in everyday lessons.

Sessions will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Monday, June 15, and from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16. Lunch will be provided on-site on the second day.

The professional development opportunity is sponsored by the Perry Education Foundation and reflects the district’s commitment to supporting educators with meaningful learning experiences that can positively impact students in the classroom.
