Perry Public Schools honored outstanding educators and staff during its annual Teacher of the Year reception held Wednesday, April 22. The event brought together honorees, colleagues, and community members to recognize the dedication and impact of those who serve students across the district.
Superintendent Chad Wilson opened the event by welcoming guests and expressing appreciation for the commitment and hard work demonstrated by each of the individuals being recognized. “Our teachers and support staff go above and beyond every single day to make a difference in the lives of our students,” Wilson said. “This event is a small way to show our appreciation for the dedication, care, and excellence they bring to Perry Public Schools.”
Following Superintendent Wilson’s remarks, each building administrator introduced their respective honorees, sharing personal insights and highlighting the contributions of teachers and support staff at each site.
Support Staff of the Year honorees Melissa Cinnamon, Lindsey Harmon, Mark Crowley, and Tommie Bengs were recognized for their vital roles in supporting student success. Each received a certificate along with a gift from First Bank & Trust.
Site Teachers of the Year Diana Sullins, Kim Russell, Cory Vineld, and Anna Schieffer were also honored during the ceremony. Each educator was presented with a commemorative plaque from First Bank & Trust in recognition of their excellence in the classroom and commitment to their students.
The highlight of the event came with the announcement of the Perry Public Schools District Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Diana Sullins received the distinguished honor and was recognized for her exceptional dedication to education. She was presented with a gift basket and pin from Exchange Bank, a plaque from First Bank & Trust, as well as a bouquet of flowers and professional development funds from the school district.
PPS wishes to extend a special thank you to last year’s District Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Mandi Justus, for her time and effort in organizing this year’s reception. Her dedication helped make the event a memorable and meaningful celebration for all involved.
Following the ceremony, honorees and guests enjoyed cake provided by Exchange Bank, offering an opportunity to celebrate together and reflect on the meaningful work taking place throughout Perry Public Schools.
The annual reception serves as a reminder of the strong educators and staff who make a lasting difference in the lives of Perry students each day.
