Kye Shrum Wins Gold at Braille Challenge !

Perry Junior High student Kye Shrum earned a gold medal after competing in this year’s Braille Challenge at the Oklahoma School for the Blind in Muskogee.

Shrum participated in the Junior Varsity division, marking his eighth year taking part in the competition. The Braille Challenge is an academic contest designed to motivate students who are blind or visually impaired to strengthen their braille literacy skills through a series of tests.

Competing against other students from across the region, Shrum demonstrated strong braille reading and writing abilities to secure the top honor in his division.

Shrum has worked closely with his braille teacher, Mrs. Cindy Lumpkin, who has supported his preparation and progress throughout the years.

Winning the gold medal highlights Shrum’s dedication and continued growth in braille literacy as he completes his eighth-grade year.

Way to go, Kye!!
