PHS Aerospace awarded "Top New SpeedFest Team” at OSU Contest
Despite a very rainy weekend on April 26, the Perry High School Aerospace class was able to participate in a shortened version of the OSU SpeedFest competition that they have spent months preparing for.
Of the 44 teams registered for the event, 37 teams showed up for contest day. After round one, and what would end up being the only round scored due to rain and lightning, PHS Aerospace tied for 8th place in the flight portion of the event.
In addition, out of the six teams who were new to the SpeedFest event this year, PHS was awarded "Top New SpeedFest Team." This award is given to the team with the highest total flag score who has not previously participated in Speedfest.
In another portion of the overall scoring, there were 41 teams that completed the required promotional video and PHS finished in third place. Special thanks to everyone who helped by “liking” their video on YouTube.
Even though the weather put a damper on event day, the students really enjoyed the experience. Mr. Ron Dwyer and Terence Hulet, co-sponsors of the team, did an incredible job helping our students prepare for the event, and they represented Perry Public Schools very well.
