On October 7, FLP’s Special Olympics competed in the Cowboy Country Area Bowling Competition. Each athlete earned either a first or second-place ribbon, and the team was recognized for their great sportsmanship, positive attitudes, and teamwork. The group now looks forward to their next competition, Basketball Skills, scheduled for November 12 at Frontier Schools.
A few days later, on October 15, students took a trip to the Oklahoma City Zoo, where they saw a wide variety of animals and enjoyed a picnic lunch surrounded by friends and teachers. The class expressed special thanks to the Perry Special Olympics Booster Club for making the trip possible.
The fall fun didn’t stop there! Students were also invited to Seth Wadley Ford of Perry to decorate pumpkins and enjoy pizza. It was a perfect fall afternoon full of creativity, laughter, and community connection. FLP would like to extend a big thank you to the Seth Wadley Ford team for their generosity and hospitality.
The program has also been exploring new ways to learn and connect. Students recently launched a YouTube channel, FLP Life Launch, featuring their very own cooking show “The Inclusive Kitchen”, where they share recipes and cooking instruction while highlighting teamwork and life skills.
Additionally, the group has partnered with the Perry Daily Journal for a new weekly series where students interview Perry Public Schools staff members and write articles highlighting their stories. It’s another great way for students to build communication skills and strengthen school connections.
From athletic achievements to community partnerships and creative learning, the Foundational Learning Program continues to embody the spirit of inclusion, growth, and joy that makes Perry Public Schools so special.
