Class Rules, Behavioral Expectations, and Behavior Rubric

The Rules -- Practice Respect, Take Responsibility, and Cultivate Discipline

  • Be on time.  Students not in their seats ready to go may be counted tardy or absent.
  • Pay attention.  Put the phones away and stop talking during instruction time.
  • Focus.  Listen when the instructor is talking, work when given the opportunity.
  • Clean up.  Clean up your area before you leave.
  • Help others.  Contemporary education is often a communal activity.  Actively assist others when appropriate or, at the very least, passively leave people alone so that they can learn.

Behavioral Expectations

Students are expected to act reasonably and responsibly within the classroom.  Upon entering the room students should quickly and quietly prepare to work.  During class students should be reasonably quiet and listen when the instructor or others are discussing classroom material, work on assignments, help others, and ask for help when needed.   Students who fail to help make this a positive learning environment may face disciplinary action, which may include penalized credit on work, lost time on quizzes, lunch detention, attending weekend school to complete work, or whatever else the principal and teacher find appropriate for the circumstances.  Distracting uses of electronics may involve confiscation.
